Behaviour Management and Youth Arts
APT/BM
15th October 2010, 10 am- 4.15 pm, Kala Sangam, Bradford
This one day course is essential training for anyone working within youth arts, but especially for those who are working directly with young people at risk. Undertaking practical workshops and activities with young people requires a broad understanding of youth culture and the issues surrounding young people’s lives. There are added pressures of working directly with young people who are already or may be at risk of social exclusion, one of which is having the skills, knowledge and experience to be able to manage their behaviour effectively and responsively. This course will discuss the practical aspects of behaviour management, look specifically at health and safety issues and risk assessment and will aim to promote a style of engaging with young people that encourages positive behaviour.

Looking at the benefits of where, when and how to find the right partner, this session will offer a simple structure for both working in and developing your partnerships. Using an interactive approach to explore issues such as defining roles and setting realistic targets, this course will also cover troubleshooting for problem areas, including when and how to bow out gracefully if partnerships aren’t working.
