Youth Arts Project Management. 6-day Accredited Course

This six day course is accredited with Middlesex University, and provides an excellent, practical induction to developing and running a youth arts project, regardless of length, size or art form. Participants will begin by exploring the philosophy of youth arts, including the ‘what is art’ debate; the intrinsic and extrinsic value of youth arts activity; the influence of youth culture on the arts in general; and arts as a vehicle for exploring social and political issues with young people.

Based on the popular Artsplan ‘Get Sorted’ series of courses this informative accredited course covers the strategies, skills and issues involved in devising and planning an arts project with and for young people. From initial ideas through to the nuts and bolts of delivery, using professional artists, funding, press, publicity and evaluation, this course will leave you feeling fully confident, qualified and inspired to successfully deliver your own youth arts project.

Formal contact hours – 30 hours Estimated additional participant activity (e.g. research, assignment etc) – 90 hours Total participant workload – 120 notional learning hours Accreditation – Level 2 (20 credits) Maximum numbers – 15 participants

Get Sorted 2: Budgeting and Fundraising for Youth Arts Projects

5th February 09, 9.45 am- 4 pm, Nuffield Theatre, Southampton

This one day course is aimed at anyone who has a good idea for a youth arts project, but needs help in developing their budget and successfully securing funding for their project. Based upon years of experience of setting up and running successful youth arts projects in a variety of settings, Get Sorted 2 will take you through a step by step guide for planning and drafting your own budget, advise on the best way to fill in funding applications and suggest where you can go to find the funds you need.
