Clare Mitchell, Artsplan Trainer
A qualified and professional community artist and JNC qualified youth and community worker, Clare Mitchell now works for the Youth Work Unit at the Government Office West Midlands and previously acted as co-ordinator for Warwickshire Youth Arts Network.
As network co-ordinator, Clare was responsible for developing and delivering training advice and support for education professionals (formal and informal) in the developing delivery of youth arts work. She was also responsible for the direct delivery of a number of good practice projects that aim to develop and extend the practice of the youth arts delivery in Warwickshire and engaged in national projects working strategically as well as fundraising and advocacy work.
Clare is now an active member of the ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network) West Midlands Regional Advisory Panel and plays a very active role within the network.
Clare has worked with a wide variety of young people and communities from inner city Bristol to the rural isolation of Warwickshire, voluntary and statutory delivery. Working as a professional artist in the community field has also enabled her to take advantage of more “creative” and experimental ways of working that enable not only young people, but communities to recognise their autonomy, begin to see things differently and embrace change.
