Artswork develops and manages strategic research and development projects across the Arts Council England South East region and nationally, which are disseminated widely across the country. We initiate and manage projects working with a range of partners including youth, social and health services, arts organisations and venues.

Artsplan is Artswork’s dedicated training and publications department, promoting professional development opportunities for professionals and volunteers currently using, or looking to use the arts in their work with young people, especially young people at risk. Artsplan is the in-house training provider of the English National Youth Arts Network (ENYAN), offering broader professional development advice and information to those working within the youth arts sector. ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network) is a membership body designed to create connections throughout the diverse youth arts sector at national, regional and grass roots levels. ENYAN aims to raise the profile and support for youth arts within England, and by doing so create more opportunities for the creative and personal development of young people, especially young people at risk. Launched in October 2002, Upstart has moved from a national quarterly youth arts magazine to a regular online format with the launch of ENYAN. The magazine is completely FREE of charge to all ENYAN members, providing an excellent resource for the sector. Find out more….
Completed Projects
hub4 ran for 3 years until the end of March 2009. It was a £1million national partnership project between Artswork, BBC Blast and youth charity The Prince’s Trust, funded by the Big Lottery. The project aimed to work with 5000 young people across the UK, improving education, training and employment opportunities, as well as enhancing young people’s self-confidence, skills and abilities. The PEER TO PEER MOTIVATORS PROJECT ran from April 2008 to the end of March 2009. The programme offered a vital layer of support for NEET (not in employment, education and training) young people. It trained older young people (Peer Motivators) to act as role models and strategic guides to help young people identify what real or imagined barriers have made them NEET and support them to find ways to access opportunities.
