12 years ago Lisa studied dramatherapy and graduated with a significant understanding in dramatherapy, facilitating, acting, directing, human development and psychotherapy. Since then she has developed her practitioner skills through 10 years teaching and facilitating a variety of client groups. Examples of her experience includes managing a Theatre Arts Project in the City of Westminster for the Youth Service, running a Children’s Unit in a women’s refuge to co-ordinating a project for people affected by HIV, running workshops for youth offending teams and co-founding a theatre company.
Lisa feels passionate about working with young people and has found that theatre and drama are an effective and positive communication process to develop personal and social skills and enhance life opportunities. Lisa furthered her specialism by training as a dramatherapist and has delivered work in schools and in the NHS. She is currently working for a charity called Chrysalis which is part of a national organisation called ADDACTION that supports people with substance misuse difficulties. Chrysalis is a unique project that provides positive parent work and therapy for children who have/are affected by their parent/s substance misuse.
Lisa’s particular interest is children and adolescent Mental Health/disorders in relation to substance misuse and offending behaviour, including factors such as Domestic Violence. Lisa believes and has witnessed the affect dramatherapy work can have to empower individuals and groups in order to facilitate growth, healing and change.
Lisa is currently Senior Dramatherapist for a Charity called Chrysalis that provides Arts Psychotherapy for children 7-14 who are affected by their parent’s substance misuse with the emphasis of ‘breaking the cycle.’
