Clare’s wide-reaching experience working in youth and community arts includes as a practitioner, manager and evaluator. Currently freelance, she has worked as Interim Director for Make Some Noise across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (Youth Music Action Zone) and Director of Sound It Out.
During the 6 years she led Sound It Out she not only led artistically, she nearly doubled the income of the organisation and increased staffing to deliver the four exciting key strands of activity – Youth, Inclusion, Health and CPD. She also achieved RFO status for the organisation and developed key strategic links across the West Midlands to partner to deliver activity.
She wrote Drake Music’s first ever accredited courses for musicians wanting to deliver music technology workshops with severely physically disabled people of all ages and delivered training including INSET across the UK. During her time with Drake she was invited by Professor Nigel Osborne to train Bosnian musicians in these techniques in war-torn Bosnia.
In her current practice she works as an Advisor for MusicLeader West Midlands, guiding youth workers, teachers, early years specialists and community artists in the next steps in their careers.
As the longstanding project manager for the award-winning Sonic [db] project, she works face to face with young offenders and young people on criminal court orders such as ISSP and has so far supported them all to achieve their arts award.
Clare is also a qualified teacher, Action Learning Facilitator and has recently achieved a Masters Level qualification in Arts and Health.
